From planting trees to a philanthropist.
Graham Wood is pleased to announce that he and his partner, Mandy, have taken over the operation of Northern NRG. With their commitment and investment in this venture, they share a goal of building Northern NRG into a significant competitive retailer in Alberta’s deregulated market.
Believing in the future of Alberta’s competitive deregulated market, he is laser-focused on offering consumers affordable energy rates for both electricity and natural gas. Additionally, through Northern NRG, micro generators in Alberta will immediately gain access to the benefits provided by the Solar Club. Today, he leads one of Canada’s largest solar companies. With Northern NRG’s investment in Alberta, this is an integral part of continuing its mission to make renewable energy more accessible and affordable while driving meaningful change for future generations.
Graham was born in Camrose and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. While growing up, he spent 3 summers in Northern BC planting over 1 million trees. It was this experience that helped him develop an appreciation for the environment, exploring, and the outdoors. He learned the lesson of competition, customer care, and providing value, which were the three key business pillars upon which his father’s family business in St. Albert was built. Over the last 20 years, Graham's business career truly embodies the definition of a successful, purpose-driven Canadian entrepreneur, developing innovative and sustainable ventures across North America that create lasting, positive impacts in the communities they serve.
Beyond business, Graham is deeply committed to philanthropy. Guided by compassion and a belief in giving back, he has personally built and funded four orphanages and five schools worldwide, providing education and opportunities to children in need. He has also led initiatives to build over 200 beds for children who had none, reinforcing his conviction that small acts of kindness can create lasting change. With the success of Northern NRG and his investment in his PV Solar installation business, these philanthropic investments will continue.
Who are Graham and Mandy? Parents of four children between the ages of 8 and 10. Avid adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts. They approach life with curiosity and resilience, committed not only to the success of Northern NRG but also to creating a legacy of purpose, compassion, and generosity.
